Three human diseases are known to be associated with pigeon droppings: histoplasmosis, cryptococcosis, and psittacosis.

Histoplasmosis is caused by the fungus Histoplasma capsulatum, which grows in pigeon droppings. This disease primarily affects the lungs and other organs which if left untreated can prove to be fatal.

Cryptococcosis, also known as cryptococcal disease, is another fungal disease associated with pigeon droppings and also grows in soils throughout the world.

Psittacosis, also known as fever is a zoonotic infectious disease caused by a bacterium called Chlamydophila psittaci and contracted from, pigeons and sparrows.When bird droppings dry and become airborne people may inhale them and get sick.

Bird netting or anti-bird netting is one of the most effective forms of bird pest control. It is a net used to prevent birds from reaching certain areas. It provides an inpenetrable barrier that birds cannot break through and do not cause harm to the birds. Most of the city apartments and offices use this method to bird proof their homes and premises and avoid health hazards caused by this birds.
